User Autonomy in a Digital Space

Digital Autonomy is essentially a user's ability to be in control of their actions in a digital space. How does a user have digital autonomy in a world that is becoming increasingly digitized? If the user is unaware of the effects that the digital space can have, they may be slightly transformed by the digital space that they traverse. Being at least aware of how the digital space can affect the user can certainly dampen its effect on the user, but the user does still have to follow most of the intentions of the design of the digital space that the user is in. However, to retain digital autonomy, the user must not let the digital space manipulate and influence their behaviors and beliefs. The user should remain in ultimate control of their actions in the digital space.
